This article will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to create and use a work plan template for standard resource planning in OnePlan.
- Create a new plan and name it after the template.Example:
- Navigate to the project's Work Plan area and input the standard schedule for your team. Remember to assign some Generic Resources in your schedule.
- Save the Work Plan
- Save the schedule as a template: Click the “…”, select Templates, and then choose Save Template.
- Enter the template name and click Save.
Using a template with Generic Resources in the schedule
- Navigate to Work Plan
- If you have never edited the work plan schedule, a quick navigation prompt will appear.
- If you have edited the work plan schedule before or clicked “Create a Blank Plan” previously, the pop-up window will not appear.
Scenario 1: Using a Template from the Quick Navigation Window
- Select “Search For Template”
- Select the template you want to use and click NEXT
- The Map Resources window will open.
- If you want to continue using Generic Resources in your schedule, you don’t need to make any changes to the resource mapping.
- If you want to replace the Generic Resources with Named Resources, click on the Generic Resource name in the Right Plan Resource column and enter the Named Resources you want for the project
- After completing the Resource Mapping, click INSERT TEMPLATE.
- The template schedule will appear in your Work Plan.
NOTE: Remember to click Save when you finish editing the schedule
Scenario 2: If You Already Edited the Schedule but Want to Use a Template Now
- Click the “…” and select Templates, Insert Template
- Select the template you want to use and click NEXT
- The Map Resources window will open.
- If you want to continue using Generic Resources in your schedule, you don’t need to make any changes to the resource mapping.
- If you want to replace the Generic Resources with Named Resources, click on the Generic Resource name in the Right Plan Resource column and enter the Named Resources you want for the project.
- After completing the Resource Mapping, click INSERT TEMPLATE.
- The template schedule will appear in your Work Plan.
NOTE: Remember to click Save when you finish editing the schedule
How to Import Resources (Generic or Named) to the Resource Plan - Current
- Navigate to the Resource Plan section of your project.
- Change the cost type to Schedule.
- Click Import.
- The Generic Resources you assigned in the schedule will appear.
- Navigate back to the Resource Plan and select the Current cost type.
- Click the hamburger menu and select Copy Values.
- Choose Schedule, select All, and click Copy.
- The resource allocation will be copied from the Schedule cost type to Current.
How to switch Generic resources to named resources in current
- Click Candidates List and find the named resources you want to use to replace one of the generic resources.
- Select the named resources and generic resources, then click Replace Resources.
- The named resources have now replaced the generic resources.
